The Queen of All Selfies!

[adrotate group=”9″]

A picture by spoof photographer Alison Jackson had me in fits earlier this week showing what a behind-the-scenes ‘day with the Royal family’ might be like.

Royal-Family-SelfieThe hilarious fake features ‘actors’ portraying Britain’s “first family” as they celebrate Kate’s first Mother’s Day gathering with champagne, Corgi iPhone covers and selfies galore!

Commissioned by online lifestyle retailer Notonthehighstreet.com for Mother’s Day next Sunday, the picture shows Her Majesty snapping away while everyone huddles up on the sofa.

Camilla grins gamely as little Prince George wails into her ear, and dad Wills makes bunny ears behind Her Majesty’s head as we all imagine what the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first Mother’s Day get-together could be like in their newly renovated Kensington Palace apartment.

Andy Botha of Notonthehighstreet.com said: “We’ve all imagined the day-to-day life of the royals.

“Kate’s first Mother’s Day will be a big event for the new family and, with tongue firmly in cheek, we’re imagining this less than ordinary couple celebrating the day just as the rest of us would.

“After all, every mum wants to be treated like a duchess on Mother’s Day.”

The craze for selfies has gradually crept into all of our lives, thanks (or no thanks) to Ellen DeGeneres who boosted the selfie addiction during the 86th Academy Awards earlier this month. Her Oscar picture reached 779,295 retweets in approximately half an hour, and so beat a record previously held by the US president, when he tweeted an image titled “Four more years” at the point of his re-election in November 2012.

I doubt this snap of the ‘fake’ Royals will do nearly as good, but it certainly had me smiling!
