Hello LA Spurs,
For the last two years we have been frequenting the Kings Head II in Studio City to watch the mighty Tottenham Hotspur. Sadly, we recently found out that the pub is being sold off to another restaurant owner and is closing in a matter of a few weeks. There will be no more Kings Head II and no football when it changes ownership. The new owners are apparently Killer Shrimp restaurant. The change of ownership permit was posted up outside the KH2 in the last few days. We have all loved going to watch our beloved Spurs for the last couple of seasons at KH2 and have been so happy that they have been able to host us. The bar manager Ian Brazil has been amazing. And he has become a friend to us all. We would like to thank Ian and also like to thank the current pub owner Donal Tavey and also Kyle Rickard plus the other fantastic staff. We wish them good luck, and feel sad about the terrible news and can’t believe the pub is closing so soon.
Since hearing the news the board members of LA Spurs have been deliberating on how to take the LA Spurs forward to the next level and we have looked into about 6 different venues across the city. We checked on parking and all the important details for a new venue. The main thing we were looking for was location, comfort, HDTV’s, parking and a 100% commitment to opening up for every single game this upcoming season including those at 4:45am, 7:00 am and at lunchtime.
The best pubs were put to a vote by the 8 board members of LA Spurs and The Greyhound Pub in Highland Park (Just below Eagle Rock) was chosen. There were a lot of reasons why The Greyhound was picked and probably the biggest one being the fact that a Spurs supporter owns the pub. And it will be a Tottenham Hotspur pub of our own. The owner Matt will open up for every Spurs game. He is a huge Spurs fan and is originally from Ohio. His business partner James is from Southampton, UK. We have met them both now several times and they are really terrific guys. Matt had been coming to The Kings Head II for the last two years to watch the games with LA Spurs. Other team supporters can come and watch games too but it will now officially be a Tottenham pub. We have the backing of the owner. Which we feel is simply priceless.
They are installing new TV screens and a brand new Optima projection TV system, 1080p HD, and an electric screen which is 120 inches diagonally.
The owners have been very accommodating and want to make us feel comfortable by improving our experience in the place. They had the 2014 World Cup games there and had about 125-150 people for the USA games. They have good lighting outside the pub, a large 40+ car parking lot in the back of the building. And along with street parking there should not be any parking or security issues. The parking lot is right behind the pub and it would be a short distance to the front doors.
The Greyhound is also just down the street from the Gold Line which runs from the east side of Los Angeles, downtown LA and out to Pasadena and to Sierra Madre. This also gives those who want to take the subway to Union Station in downtown LA the chance to go directly to Highland Park Gold Line.
The owners have a great desire to have us there. They have good deals on drinks, the food is outstanding and they have a good beer selection. They also have good coffee. And the football match atmosphere should be great. They will have a special breakfast menu for us on the weekend games.

The Greyhound is on Figueroa St and S Ave 56 in Highland Park.
It is very easy to get to. Take the S Ave 52 exit off the 110 Freeway, go north and turn right at Figueroa St. Also very close to the 2 Freeway. Close to the 5 freeway. And about 7 minutes below the 134 Freeway (Exit at Figueroa exit in Eagle Rock.)

We will continue to watch the games at the Kings Head 2 for the next few weeks. And plan to make the switch to The Greyhound for the game on Saturday September 13th for Sunderland vs. Tottenham Hotspur at 7:00am. If things change with scheduling at the Kings Head 2 before this date we will keep you informed.

We wanted to give you the LASPURS fans plenty of time to adjust.
