THE BABC Los Angeles presents the latest in its Distinguished Speaker Series next month with a breakfast and networking mixer featuring Ruby McGregor-Smith, one of the brightest female stars in the British business firmament.
In 2007 the India-born McGregor-Smith was named CEO of Mitie Group PLC, a strategic outsourcing and energy services company based in Bristol. She is one of a small number of women holding the position of Chief Executive in the FTSE 250 or FTSE 100 and is the first Asian woman to be appointed in such a role within that group of companies. Since joining, she has seen Mitie grow its revenue from £0.5bn to over £2.0bn, continuing its unbroken track record of profit and revenue growth.
In 2009, 2010 and 2011, Ruby was ranked 32nd, 35th and 33rd in the Financial Times Top 50 Women in World Business and in February, 2014 she was appointed a UK Business Ambassador.
