Meet a Member: Nadia Wit

Meet Nadia Wit from Santa Barbara who moved to LA to act.

Was there a particular reason you chose LA?

It was 80 miles from my home town and I was 17 years old.

What one thing do you miss from home?

How about I will tell you what I miss about LA when I leave…. The California fresh fusion cuisine!

What do you find the biggest difference is living here versus Santa Barbara?

California is a beautiful state… You can surf in the morning and ski in the afternoon with only a two hour drive in between. Santa Barbara is known for its 5 beaches and wine country and although it’s only an hour and a half drive, there are certainly a lot of differences in the culture.

I love the diversity of Los Angeles and how amazing the service is because we are all way too qualified for our day jobs and pursuing something greater. I love that your UBER driver has a PhD and no one blinks an eye at that.  Santa Barbara is very romantic and laid back. It’s a great place to visit and I highly recommend going there for a weekend, be it camping at El Capitan beach or staying at the incredibly beautiful and dog-friendly Bacara Resort. While you are in Santa Barbara you should pick up one of my parents beautifully hand crafted stain glass kaleidoscopes by Ultimate Reflections at the Art Walk on Sundays.

Do you have a hidden gem in LA that you want to share with us?

I LOVE Dia de Muertos festival at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery (www.ladayofthedead.com) and the dance class at EDGE PAC.

What would you suggest to others who are thinking about making the move here?

Non LA People think LA people are flaky but it’s really just because we don’t have a subway system and traffic accounts for our daily decisions whether we can get from where we are to where we are supposed to be. The truth is a friend you make today will be a forever friend even if you don’t see them for a decade because you live in Santa Monica and they live in Eagle Rock.

Also: get involved in a group like Brits in LA and take advantage of the great classes in your field. And have abit of savings for parking tickets and fender benders that are not your fault.

Lastly, how can we find out more about you? Are you on the Internet?
