Christmas in February? It’s elementary for Cumberbatch…

THERE MIGHT BE more than 300 days to wait but Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch and the rest of the Baker Street gang were already getting in the spirit this week as they were spotted looking dapper in Victorian era costumes on set together for the stand-alone Sherlock Christmas Special expected to air on Christmas Day.

sean-borg-sherlockThe show will be filmed at Coston Hall in Bristol and several other locations as the talented cast and crew bring the script to life.

The upcoming series of the popular show, which was created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, is set to be ‘the most shocking and surprising series of Sherlock yet’ according to the BBC.

“Of course, it’s far too early to say what’s coming, but we’re reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you’d expect,” Moffat revealed last year.

He is also quoted saying: “I suspect it’s going to be end of year-ish, and as everyone has seen, it’s Victorian”.

During the episode Sherlock will likely use his deductive skills to finally learn if the treacherous Moriarty is, in fact, dead.

Moriarty’s “death” during the Season Three finale rang false to many viewers. And Gatiss assured the public during his recent interview with The Radio Times that the special episode would “completely” solve the riddle of Moriarty’s reemergence.

Meanhwhile the show’s star, Cumberbatch, is not only newly wed but also preparing to be a new dad; he’s also wrapping up his stint filming Marvel’s “Doctor Strange“ AND he’s dealing with the recent slew of award shows that look to honor him for his role as Alan Turing in the film “The Imitation Game,” which centers on the brilliant mathemetician’s vital work in cracking the Nazi Enigma Code in World War II.

I mean, could he be any HOTTER?

Enthusiasts (including myself) are already abuzz at the prospect of seeing Cumberbatch don the signature coat, cape and deerstalker that are the hallmarks of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle‘s iconic sleuth.

And let’s not forget Martin Freeman, who fans will see wearing a king-sized mustache, a bowler hat and a cozy scarf as he portrays Dr. Watson.

     Oo-er… Roll on Christmas!
