Meet a Member: Ricky Parcell

Meet Ricky Parcell from Yorkshire, who moved to LA one year ago to pursue being a Master Celebrity Personal trainer, and possibly Britain’s answer to USA fitness god and guru Richard Simmons….

Tell us a little history about yourself…

ricky-parcellAy up! I was born on the seaside in Yorkshire and spent all my childhood eating lots of naughty food…with no idea about nutrition or fitness, scoffing lots of fish and chips in newspapers, enjoying endless 99’s ice creams, eating Walkers Crisp (always cheese and onion) getting overweight and playing at the amusements most of the time on the slot machines. Dinner was always served on my lap by the family, as we spent nights watching The Golden Girls, Cheers, The A-Team, Knight Rider, Dynasty and Dallas. The seed had been planted….anyway, I escaped this unhealthy lifestyle at 17, by joining the Royal Navy for 14 years and learned everything about life……

Having left the Military in 2006 as an Elite Physical Trainer I travelled across the world, learning top tips and getting into the best shape of my life, so I decided to help other people understand and show them my system – where they can still enjoy naughty foods and enjoy workouts, and learn easy daily habits.

Was there a particular reason you chose LA?

The opportunity, people, food, Eighties music, beach, fitness, lifestyle, sunshine and possibility of bumping into “the Hoff” or Mr T.

What do you hope to achieve by living in Los Angeles?

Meeting as many people as possible and having fun sessions with them – maybe eat some good food and exercise too?

What one thing do you miss from home?

Me mum!

What do you find the biggest difference is living here versus the UK?

The amount of opportunity and lifestyle is top class in California – It creates a consciousness of health too.

Do you have a hidden gem in LA that you want to share with us?

I have been training UK celebrities for years, and I just bagged my first USA celeb – what an interesting character….but no names, please!
