The joys of spring and visitors from home…

Hi Breeps!

Spring as definitely sprung and so have my allergies – in this germaphobe city of angels it’s important to let people know, “it’s not a cold, it’s just allergies.”

I’m thinking of doing one of the full-on allergy tests, just to find out once and for all what exactly I am allergic to. Stay tuned to find out how it goes!

This great Spring weather has reminded me to get back into shape and with the help of this week’s Meet A Member – ex-Royal Navy trainer Ricky Parcell, I’m well on course. His specific training style is great for those of you who don’t have a lot of time available to be in the gym and with access to so many great parks and hiking trails here, there’s simply no excuse to be unfit. We have some of LA’s best hiking and recreational spots within easy reach, whether you are in Santa Monica or Venice Beach, Griffith Park (which boasts at least three trails), Bronson Canyon, Fryman Canyon or Runyon Canyon.

My Mum and Auntie Sue were here again this month for their annual visit – they have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the unusual hot weather, and thanks to so many of you for making them feel welcome and taking them under your wings. They have enjoyed meeting Bernard and Lynn at a very busy Breakfast Club, not to mention last week’s Meet a Member subjects, The Postlethwaite Twins. Our tireless BiLA photographer Kerstin Alm took them to Olvera Street downtown and to the top of City Hall to catch a breathtaking 360-degree view of the city I know call home. To top it all off, Irish member Marc Coneely invited us for a meal in Manhattan Beach for a good ‘ol jig at his home.

Starting Monday: James Corden on the Late Late Show

Since one of the highlights of visiting LA is to spot someone famous, I managed to blag some tickets for us to see the latest British transplant, James Cordon tape a trial episodes of The Late, Late Show on CBS. His guests were comedienne Whitney Cummings and from NCIS:LA, Eric Christian Olsen. James was very funny and entertaining and I’m sure he’s going to be a huge success as he takes over from another Great Brit…..Craig Ferguson. We wish James and his family a smooth transition to Los Angeles and our Breakfast Club door is always open! Readers who want to snag tickets to see the show – visit 1iota.com and sign up for tickets. They also have tickets for lots of other shows too, which is a great way to entertain visitors.

Mum and Sue planned to celebrate their final day in Tinseltown by seeing artifacts from the Titanic and a having a nice meal at Soho House…where perhaps they’ll have another celebrity sighting. Regardless, they’ve made some great friends here and even greater memories… Thanks all…Until next year!

Cheers!

Craig
