The definition of a “habitual’ is the combination of a habit or ritual.

Every day we do little things in life which either help us live longer and lead a healthy life….. or break us and enable us to lead a diseased, dead life!

An example of a “habitual” we all do daily is brushing teeth. We do this daily “habitual” and don’t even think about it……it’s just part of our morning and before bedtime life! As we go through life, we get into different habits and fall into daily rituals. Most do not serve us – examples are drinking a glass of wine or two at night to relax, eating late at night and watching TV too long. Over a period of time these habits become part of our daily life and unfortunately most people are not even aware of them. People do them automatically and therefore are not “conscious’ of daily habits. The biggest thing to remember in this blog is simply this….AWARENESS LEADS TO CHANGE” Once we become aware of daily habits which don’t deserve us, make us unhealthy or cause us to stay up later than we should, we can change these daily rituals.

So here’s my challenge to you – what are the three biggest rituals you do daily, which are making you unhealthy and what time of day do you do these at? Here’s another question – how could you change daily rituals for the better? For example – You may be staying up late to watch TV and instead could get to bed by 11pm and ensuring a quality night’s rest, to recharge and recover the mind and body.

Where could you create a habitual? Here’s some great examples…

Walk 10 minutes a day at 7am every morning – imagine the benefits of this over a period of a year!

If this was part of your daily life, Imagine the benefits….your circulation would improve massively and you would burn lots of fat at the same time!

How about eating a salad every day – this is a fantastic habitual, because it ensures you are giving your body a fantastic cocktail of healthy foods daily and ensuring it can fight disease when asked.

Another could be meditating every day at 12pm, on your lunch break at work for 10 minutes – this would clear and calm your mind and help you de-stress.

Have a think about what “habitual” you can create in 2016…..

Make it simple, lasting 10 mins and easy to do!
