Spice fans far and wide have been hoping The Spice Girls will get back together for their 20th anniversary.

But now it is suggested that there could be no hope for all five ladies appearing together as Mel C has reportedly dropped out of reunion plans.

spice-girlsAn unnamed source told British newspaper The Sun: “Mel C is out of the reunion for now. She has essentially left the band to focus on a more serious music career.

“She loves the girls but it just didn’t feel right for her to reunite with them at the moment. She has other priorities and obviously it was a bit of a problem that Victoria made it clear she wasn’t going to be part of the reunion.

“Mel B and Geri in particular are still determined to mark their anniversary in some way. They are arranging a number of meetings which include the option for a tour, possible with just the three of them or with other singers.

“There have even been the suggestions of a Spice Girls talent show. It would be an absolute TV sensation. Could you imagine the opportunity for a member of the public to become a Spice Girl?”

Mel B has previously spoken about the possibility of a reunion, but preferred to stay coy until it was set in stone, despite hinting that something could be coming soon.

Speaking on the Allegedly podcast, the 40-year-old said: “I’ve been trying to get those bitches together for years. We are in talks with each other closely about this reunion, but until something’s official, there’s no point in saying anything. I do feel like it’s getting closer and closer.”

While the band was together, the Spice Girls sold more than 85 million records and their 2007 reunion tour raked in £107m in ticket sales and merchandise.

All five members released music as solo artists and went on to enter other avenues.

Mel C and Mel B both lent their musical skills to judging panels on talent shows with Chisholm now appearing on Asia’s Got Talent and Brown having worked on The X Factor UK and Australia, America’s Got Talent and landing the role of presenter of Lip Sync Battle UK.

Victoria Beckham has her own fashion house, Geri Halliwell (now Horner) has played judge on a number of shows like her bandmates and Emma Bunton is the host of two radio shows on the popular British radio station Heart FM.
