Meet Katie Beresford from Cheshire who moved to LA 1 year ago to pursue acting.
Was there a particular reason you chose LA?
I attended an Industry Hollywood (event) back in November 2013 and I was offered representation from both agent and manager if I was to move to LA. At that time, I did not have representation in the UK, and so many people would dream to have this kind of offer and so I decided to take the leap of faith last year. This was the best decision I ever made!
What do you miss most from home?
Obviously my family and my girls….but mostly English chocolate! American chocolate sucks!
What was your first impression of LA and has it changed since? If so why?
My first impression of LA and it still remains now is it’s like a bubble, nowhere else in the world is there place where your life can change in a blink of eye just by attending various events. Everybody is driven and connected here. Everybody is chasing their dreams and it’s inspiring to be a part of this world. Also, did I mention that it’s summer here all year long?
What do you find the biggest difference is living here versus Cheshire?
Driving! I can’t drive in LA (or should I say I am little scared at attempting it) I am not the best driver in England and LA is crazy. Really I am protecting everyone by using Uber!
Do you have a hidden gem in LA that you want to share with us?
It’s not really hidden but when you climb Runyon, it’s honestly quite breathtaking to overlook the whole of Los Angeles. It makes me feel very lucky to call this city my home.
What would you suggest to others who are thinking about making the move here?
It’s not a decision to be taken lightly. I would come here first and ‘dip your toe in the water’ (so to speak) and go to Brits in LA breakfast! Networking in LA is half the battle for being successful and you honestly never know who you’re going to meet there!
