Happy Birthday to Us!

Brits in LA turned 9 years old this week!

bila-2As we enter our 10th year it is a good time to reflect and consider what the next decade will bring. Our community on Facebook started off with a handful of friends and now averages three new members a day. At last count we have 10,000 Brits and non-Brits who just want to be part of a like-minded group. We do limit the people who join by making it a closed group, but you can send us a request, via this link if you haven’t already: facebook.com/groups/Britslovela. You will get automatic approval if you have friends in the group. If you don’t know anyone we ask that you drop us a line so we can try to verify that your intentions are honest and you are not just joining so you can tell everyone about your amazing Juice/Cosmetics/WeightLoss multilevel marketing scheme that will guarantee Brits in LA members are millionaires by the end of the month!

Our Facebook page is the go-to spot if you ever have a question or a quandary and have nowhere else to turn. And it is also the place for friendships, networking, jobs, housing and everything in between. Craig and I can’t take all of the credit, as without you we would just be called Two Brits in LA! We get so much pleasure from providing a forum where people get to help each other, but we would certainly love to hear your thoughts on what we could add or change to make it even better. Brits in LA is all of us, so we really want it to reflect everyone’s ideas. Email us at BritsinLA@gmail.com if you have something you would like to say!

It has certainly been a good week for celebrations, as the Brits are doing rather well at the Olympics in Rio – second in the medal table as I write this. Considering that the current number one, USA, have over three times the population we are doing pretty amazing! Lots of our favorite venues are screening the games – including Ye Olde Kings Head, The Lost Knight and The Pikey (who have cable now rather than streaming!).

If sports is not your thing visit us on Facebook as we have lots of great live music, theatre and arts listings, plus competitions for tickets to see Chesney Hawkes, Culture Club and even Pat Benatar!

bila-3Pub Quiz fans don’t forget to save the date – September 6th – as that is the date our Pub Quiz at the Pikey returns. In the meantime you can always come and say hello at our Tuesday Weekly Breakfast at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood – stop by any time between 9.30-11.30 – full details can be found at www.Britsin.LA.

Cheers!
