BAFTA’s new digs, Polo and Kickstarting sucess…

FIRST OFF there are three people whom I must wish Happy Birthday: my neice Megan, my great nephew William, (God, I’m getting old!) and last but most definitely not least, our esteemed BiLA member Tehmina Sunny.

Congratulations also to our friends over at BAFTA/LA who have moved into swanky new offices on Wilshire Boulevard boasting an incredible view. They invited their members to come and check out the new space on Tuesday night, so Brits in LA member Marcus Coneelly and I went along for a nosey and a long-overdue catch up. There we saw former Managing Director Don Haber, who was catching up with UKares award recipient, Katy Haber. Peter Foldy introduced us to a new British actor named Sebastian, who is contemplating moving to LA very soon, allowing Marc and I to offer him tons of advice. Also present: actor Clement Von Frankenstein who was sharing a drink with Big Bang Theory’s Alice Amter and screenwriter and Toscars Alumnus, Noam Friedlander, chatting up a storm with BAFTA’s Matthew Wiseman. We wish them good energy in these new offices. The west facing view is not only breathtaking, but inspiring.

Don’t forget this weekend the Safety Harbor Kids’ charity are hosting their annual Polo fundraiser (Sept 10 at the Polo Grounds at Will Rogers’s Park, with Brit celeb Downtown Julie Brown and Albert Lee). It all kicks off at 1pm – we had such fun there a few years ago. Not only a fun day out helping a well deserved charity too.

And a big thank you to all those who have supported my Kickstarter project @asst_. We’ve exceeded our target and are very happy to start the casting process. Eric Roberts, Jeffrey Postlethwaite (Peaky Blinders) and Oskar Rodriguez (East Los High) have all joined the cast so far so stay tuned for more news on this exciting project.

Finally: our popular pub quiz is back – Sandro Monetti mc’d a packed house last week and congratulations to the winners who took home the kitty! Next quiz is scheduled for Sept 20th. Hosted by yours truly! Don’t forget the quiz is always held at The Pikey on Sunset Boulevard, just east of Fairfax. And don’t worry about coming solo, we’re a friendly bunch and can always find a team for you to join.

Look forward to seeing you then!

Cheers,

Craig
