‘Rocker’ Rod Knighted by Prince William!

Talk about A Knight on the Town!

rod-stewart-with-william71-year-old music legend Rod Stewart has been knighted, becoming Sir Roderick David Stewart at Buckingham Palace for his accomplishments in the industry and beyond.

‘Rocker’ Rod was knighted by Prince William and the “Forever Young” singer was joined by his wife, Penny Lancaster, and two of his sons – Alastair and Aiden for the ceremony.

The boys were dressed to the nines, as was their dad. Stewart, who is of Scottish and English ancestry ditched the ceremony’s traditional tailcoat and top hat for tartan trousers  – colorful stage wear that has been his signature for more than 50 years in showbiz.

The Grammy winner said of meeting the duke: “We talked about music and he said: ‘It’s great that you’re still going,’ and I said: ‘I have to – I’ve got eight children!’.

“He congratulated me on my long career – and I said how happy this made me. I just wish my mum and dad had been here to see it,” Stewart told the BBC.

He previously thanked Queen Elizabeth II for the honor and promised to “wear it well” when it was announced in June.
