Why Daisy won’t pop up on Instagram

Don’t expect to see British star Daisy Ridley back on Instagram anytime soon…

The Westminster-born actress, soon to be seen on the big screen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi  has opened up about her aversion to over-sharing in a new interview with Glamour, saying she’s protective of her privacy.

Oo-er!

“It’s not good for me, personally. I’m just not equipped for it. I’m super sensitive – not too sensitive – but I really feel things,” she said. “Also, there is also a sense that I’m asked who I’m dating a lot more than John [Boyega] is. I don’t answer, because I have things in my life that are private.”

Ridley also admitted that she fears she might come across as “ungrateful” but that she’s learned the importance of putting herself first.

“There is certainly a personal thing of, ‘Will people think I’m ungrateful?’ Someone literally said to me, ‘So-and-so didn’t answer questions about that, and they came across really cold,’” she said. “But I have to come first, because if I am not healthy – I was struggling with anxiety last year – if I’m not mentally healthy, or I’m depleted from sharing so much, I won’t have anything left for when people approach me.”

Ridley deleted her Instagram account in 2016 after she received backlash for posting a message in support of victims affected by gun violence.

“I just want to be on my phone less! Trying to be more present and all that and got a busy few months ahead so wanted less distractions… It’s all good! :)” she wrote of her decision to leave, according to fan account. “I always appreciate the support and love the Instagram community! X.”

Ridley first joined Instagram in 2015, and became known for her uplifting messages about self-acceptance and body positivity.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi debuts in theaters December 15th.
