If you’re looking for a special someone to spend time with Sunday evenings in July, how about a brilliant Belgian with a talent for solving murders?
We’re talking of course, about Hercule Poirot, Agathie Christie’s most famous sleuth, who returns (in the person of David Suchet) to PBS’ Mystery Masterpiece program for a three-week run on Sunday evenings at 10pm.
Three new episodes air starting July 11th, with a new take on the classic whodunnit, Murder on the Orient Express. Suchet is joined by a first-class rail car full of great actors, including Eileen Atkins, Barbara Hershey, Hugh Bonneville, Toby Jones and David Morrissey.
Sunday July 18 brings us the Third Girl, in which a demon-haunted heiress is convinced she has committed murder, but Hercule Poirot believes she is innocent. Eccentric crime novelist Ariadne Oliver (Zoë Wanamaker) helps the great sleuth crack the case.
And the series winds up on July 25th with another classic tale: Appointment with Death. An archaeological dig is the scene of murder in the Middle East, Hercule Poirot to unravel a tragic tale of twisted family secrets. The cast of suspects includes co-stars Tim Curry (Spamalot) and Elizabeth McGovern (A Room with a View).
