Torchwood Heats Up the Summer Starz!

[adrotate group=”9″]

For the first time this summer, sci-fi television series Torchwood will light up on premium cable channel Starz, which also produces acclaimed shows Sparticus and Camelot, and this time around the Doctor Who spin-off is stoked to shine brighter and hotter than ever before.

The fourth installment of the series is called Torchwood: Miracle Day and premieres in America on Friday, July 8th at 10pm on Starz (the UK premiere has not yet been announced.)

Original cast members John Barrowman, Eve Myles, and Kai Owen will reprise their roles of Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, and Rhys Williams respectively and will be joined by new principal cast members Mekhi Phifer and Bill Pullman. The episodes will depict what happens (SPOILER ALERT) after everyone on Earth suddenly stops dying and the planet experiences an unprecedented and dangerous population growth spurt. Consequently, C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson, played by Phifer, gets drawn into the clandestine work handled by the covert Torchwood Institute.

The new ten-episode arc of Torchwood will reportedly be increasingly suspenseful and raunchy, even going as far as exhibiting full frontal male nudity. Speaking about working on the upcoming action-packed and sexually-charged episodes, lead actor Barrowman revealed: “I’m naked in one episode – I am full-on naked…” The Scottish-American star added: “It was really fun. One day, I get to shoot a helicopter and save the world, and a couple of days later, I get to have [simulated] sex with a 24-year-old. (It’s the most) perfect job in the world.”

Undoubtedly, Starz, series creator Russell T. Davies, and the rest of the Torchwood family are hopingTorchwood: Miracle Day is destined to become a hot new summer hit. Looks like it’s in the Starz to me…
