When you think of David Beckham, the first things that spring to mind are sexy god-like looks, followed by renowned football player, then his super-fit physique…his underwear, and lastly, his fashion designer wife Victoria…
And though we all think Beckham is a bit of a ‘smoothie’, perhaps the soccer-stud has gone a bit to far this time by associating his good name with a stodgy fast-food chain…
Beckham has helped sell many top named brands the world over, but this one is a real shocker. I reckon Beckham’s gone a bit low-rent by lending his name and likeness to international fast food giants Burger King…yup, you read it correctly I did say BURGER KING!
However, before you all die of complete shock, I will state that it is to promote the burger chain’s new ‘healthier options’, one of which just happens to be a 310-calorie strawberry and banana smoothie.
In the hilarious television commercial, the 36-year-old superstar walks into a Burger King restaurant approaching the server to order the healthy fruit blend. The girl serving Beckham cannot help but stare deep into the star’s eyes, captivated by his handsomeness.
Suddenly, after daydreaming mid-order the girl’s fantasy is interrupted by her boss. The restaurant’s manager then apologizes for his staff’s behavior, but before long Beckham captivates him in the same manner…
Clever advertising if you ask me. I liked it!
The new campaign arrives after Burger King’s recent slump in sales, and what better way to get word out that the fast-food chain is making a comeback than hiring David Beckham… It couldn’t possibly fail.
It certainly worked for me; I must say that smoothie does looks very tasty…nearly as tasty as David!
