Two rising Brits grace pages of Hollywood Monthly…

June 22, 2012 5:27 pm

Cracking Hollywood is no easy feat, but here are two up-and-coming talented British stars whose ripples are becoming waves - Sex and the City 2 actor Max Ryan and TV Guide Network’s red-carpet host, Carly Steel.

In July’s issue of Hollywood Monthly Max and Carly, reveal their fashion passions over eight-pages of chic-glossiness.

Max arrived in Tinseltown in 2001 after starring opposite Jet Li in the action flick Kiss of the Dragon. Since then the hunky star has worked consistently, including a lead role alongsideSean Connery in the 2003 blockbuster, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

But it wasn’t until the summer of 2010 that Ryan truly became a household name after playing Kim Cattrall’s love interest, Danish playboy architect, Richard “Dick” Spurt in the second movie based on the hit HBO TV series.

Kim’s character Samantha Jones chokes sipping a Cosmopolitan as she splutters, “You mean your name is Dick Spurt?”

Max tells Hollywood Monthly: “My character in SATC2 was much more in vain than me,”

He said. “But if I do dress-up, then Ralph Lauren works great, I love Calvin Klein… and Paul Smith rocks!”

Max is currently putting together several big-budget movie projects with A-list names attached, the first on his slate is scheduled for production later this year.

Scottish-born Carly Steel came to Hollywood five years ago after working at Vogue magazine in New York and already has an impressive resume. The red-carpet stunner began hosting and producing segments for E! Online and The Style Network, before impressing the bigwigs over at TV Guide Network.

Carly is one who definitely knows how to get noticed when all dolled-up for awards season. She tells HM: “It’s incredibly difficult choosing the right outfit when award season comes-a-calling. It’s so difficult to choose the right outfit for television events, much more difficult than people realize!”

Really Carly? I find that very hard to believe, you do it so well… However, you, the reader can judge for yourself by checking out July’s issue of Hollywood Monthly magazine online  HERE.

Fit Brits: Leilani hits the gym with ex-beau Kazinsky

We often follow the life and times of Leilani Dowding here on this column. So, after seeing her Instagram photos this week I couldn’t resist letting you all know that the former Miss Great Britain had shared some snaps of her sexy six-pack working out in West Hollywood with former Eastenders star Robert Kazinsky. Rob has been hanging around in Tinseltown for sometime now and finally it seems to be paying off for him after years of grafting and doing the rounds along with the many wannabe [...]

Brit Henry Cavill Soars in New Superman Movie!

It’s finally here… The hotly anticipated Superman reboot, Man Of Steel, starring British actor Henry Cavill, opened on Friday. Woot, woot! With Christopher Nolan producing and Zack Snyder directing,  Warner Brothers hope that Nolan can sprinkle the same magic over Superman as he did on Batman. And in my opinion Nolan and Snyder have pretty much done it, after seeing the mammoth movie, action-wise, as you watch Man Of Steel it just gets bigger and bigger! In an extended opening that takes place on Krypton Jor-El [...]

New faces, same quality as Yes, Prime Minister opens in Westwood

WEDNESDAY evening saw the opening night of Yes, Prime Minister, at the Gil Cates Theater at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood. An artsy crowd schmoozed in the courtyard before the curtain, lubricated by wine and Pimms  – a very pleasant surprise for this reviewer – director Jonathan Lynn was out among the guests rather than backstage, and we also spotted British Consul General Dame Barbara Hay and actress Angelica Huston among the audience. Lynn, who got his start Fiddler on [...]

We were in the middle of drawing up an agreement between us when I turned on the television in March 2009 to see the appalling news that she had died [...]
