Sir Elton John and hubby David Furnish have sold their condo in West Hollywood for the safety of their baby son Zachary, sources tell news website Radaronline.
The couple reportedly loved their California high-rise, but worried about the well-being of the child prompted the singer and his filmmaker partner to sell the property.
The two conjoined condos in the Sierra Towers building allegedly prompted memories of the tragedy which happened to Eric Clapton back in 1991, when the legendary guitarist’s son, Conor, fell 49 stories to his death.
Our source said that Sir Elt’, 65, and Furnish, 49, decided a condo on a high floor was not the ideal place for a toddler to grow up. They were both concerned that: “Little Zachary could also climb out of one of the windows in the apartment, which was simply not worth the chance.”
The source added: “They did love the home, but now they are parents they have to think more sensibly and it wasn’t ideal for Zachary.
“They thought about installing window guards all throughout but Elton was terrified that one of them could malfunction or break, and he couldn’t live with that on his conscience.”
The luxurious condo went on the market Furnish and John for $4.65 million in March and closed earlier this month.
Being responsible parents, they have purchased a more child-friendly home in the Trousdale Estates area of Beverly Hills, which was originally listed for $7.695 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Sierra Towers is well known for its celebrity occupants. Stars past and present include Lindsay Lohan,Courtney Cox, Joan Collins, Jackie Collins, Sidney Poitier, Sir Michael Caine wife shakira, David Geffen, and Cher.
