One Direction hottie Zayn Malik passed up the opportunity to meet his movie idol Johnny Depp recently when the rest of the band jumped at the chance.
As pictures of their meeting hit the web, it emerged that Zayn was absent from the gathering, leaving everyone wondering why.
The heartthrob British singer admitted he turned down the invitation from Hollywood A-lister Depp, because he was “too intimidated”.
19-year-old Zayn said: “I was too nervous to go. I am a massive, massive fan and I didn’t want to embarrass myself so I let the boys go without me.”
According to sources, Depp was the one who arranged the meeting. The Pirates of the Caribbean star invited the hit band to visit him at his studio for a jam session for his daughter, Lily Rose, but Malik wimped out coming face-to-face with his hero.
He added: “Hopefully, there will be a next time. The boys said he was totally cool. I kind of regret it for sure and the lads said I was a scaredy cat.
“Some of our fans get so excited or nervous when they meet us and that’s how I was at the thought of being with Johnny. But instead of lapping it up and enjoying it, I ran the other way.”
My spies inform me that Zayn is one of Lily Rose’s favourites, so who knows, Depp may well set up a special one-on-one meet with Zayn in the near future… I’ll keep ya posted!
