I can’t get enough of Jason Statham…and he knows it!
In the February 2013, issue of Men’s Fitness the Hollywood-based British hunk talks about his new flick Parker, in which he plays a criminal who lumps up and feels pain while he entertains. Though this movie is violent, it isn’t without its ‘huh?’ moments.
In one of the more perilous action sequences in the heist-revenge movie, Stath’ is seen fighting a bad guy with a very large knife on a balcony of the Boca Raton Beach Resort. Though you know the lead guy will survive, Parker is badly injured, and it is a very tough scene to watch.
Like every great action hero (and Statham certainly is one), the 45-year-old actor showed off his tough side (even though I know he’s a big softie at heart) in this sexy Steve Shaw cover shoot, chatting about his career, his inspirations and what it was like co-starring alongside Jennifer Lopez.
Here are a few my favourite highlights from Mr. Statham’s interview…
Who are Jason’s biggest influences?
“There’s Bruce Lee and then, of course, there’s Sly.”
Who are his onscreen heroes?
“Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Clint Eastwood. It’s funny; most of my onscreen heroes are sort of the ones of yesteryear. I just thought they had a bit of a laid-back coolness to them.”
On working with Miss Lopez in “Parker:”
“In Hollywood, people get reputations, just rumors that are passed down. She couldn’t have been nicer, more pleasant person to work with. She was just fantastic. She was just like a bubbly young girl. That’s what I remember about her – just a beam of light. I loved working with her.”
On the future:
“I never look too far forward. Will I be here the next 10 years, 20 years – 2 years? It’s a day-at-a-time thing for me.”
