Heartthrob British film star Luke Evans is set to play Great Train Robber Bruce Reynolds in a BBC drama about the famous heist.

A Robber’s Tale – the first of two episodes – also stars Line of Duty actor Martin Compston, Jack Roth, Neil Maskell, Paul Anderson and Jack Gordon as the thief’s accomplices.

The flick will see Immortals actor, Evans, as Reynolds, (who died aged 81 last week), leading his gang to target the August Bank Holiday 1963 mail train from Glasgow.

Running from November 1962 to the night of the robbery and its aftermath, the first film tells how the theft was planned and executed.

The thieves were Reynolds’ childhood friend Charlie Wilson (Roth), ambitious Ronald “Buster” Edwards (Maskell) and seasoned professional Gordon Goody (Anderson).

Racing driver Roy James (Compston) was brought in as the getaway driver and Ronnie Biggs (Gordon) was hired to find a replacement train driver.

The second film – A Copper’s Tale – follows detective Tommy Butler and the crack team of policemen he assembled in his quest to bring the crooks to justice.

Sound like an excellent piece of dramz to me!
