My spies inform me that British film director Guy Richie has set his sights set on signing superstar film actor Tom Cruise for the lead his latest movie.
I hear that Warner Bros and Richie are in talks with Cruise to play ‘Napoleon Solo’ in the big-screen version of the hit Sixties U.S TV series The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Sources say that George Clooney was originally targeted for the part but after Guy became director, the Mission Impossible star became the number one casting choice.
I’m told the role is a physical one and Clooney has suffered from a bad back over the years.
This would be a walk-in-the-park for ‘action-man’ Cruise, known for doing all of his own stunts.
Guy has also sounded out Ben Affleck and Matt Damon for parts in the flick.
If all goes to plan then filming could start as soon as October this year!
