Matt Smith reckons he would make a great James Bond villain, revealing he didn’t think he was good-looking enough to be the next James Bond – but would make a great arch-nemesis for 007.

Matt-Smith The Doctor Who star told The Sun: “I’m not handsome enough to be James Bond. Maybe a villain though. Start campaigning now. I don’t think I could be James Bond though.”

The actor described how he would play the role: “I’d edge on the camp, dangerous side, I think. Javier Bardem was amazing. I thought Skyfall was a sumptuous film.”

The world’s favourite spy films were on Matt’s mind as the series opener of Doctor Who is set in modern London, and has a few shades of Skyfall.

Matt added: “It’s a modern-day conspiracy thriller, it’s like Doctor Who meets Bourne, meets Bond, meets action adventure and I’m really pleased with it.

“We’ve got motorbikes and Spoonheads and people trying to tap into the WiFi and people’s brains. You’ve got Westminster and modern London and I think it’s an exciting adventure.”

Matt’s career is certainly on the up-and-up after it was revealed that he was heading to Hollywood to star in his first ever U.S film.

He will play the male lead in How To Catch A Monster, directed by heartthrob actor Ryan Gosling.

That’s not bad for starters, eh?!
