Rumors swirled after Edwards, also 20, accompanied Malik and the other One Directions at the UK premiere of the band’s new movie, This Is Us, and she stunned onlookers in a black gown with sheer panels, a high pony tail and a big, HUGE rock on her finger!
A spokesman for the British boy-band confirmed the news, saying: “Zayn and Perrie are engaged, but any further detail regarding their relationship is private.”
The two met on the set of the British version of ‘The X Factor’ in 2011.
One Direction was performing and Little Mix went on to become the first group to win the TV contest after being mentored by English singer-songwriter Tulisa Contostavlos.
Edwards’ mother, Debbie, told Real Radio, UK: “It’s true. They got engaged on Sunday and it was absolutely lovely. It’s wonderful because Zayn’s absolutely gorgeous and Perrie loves him to pieces and it’s just perfect. They just get on so well together and they understand each other so it’s just fabulous.”
I’m not surprised by this new development. In a recent interview with Twist magazine, Perrie couldn’t stop gushing about Zayn.
She said: “Zayn is so lovely,” Perrie said. “You know things are good when you can’t wait to see the other person. It’s a sense of friendship. The main thing I looked for is if he’s fun to be around, if I can have a laugh with him.”
Aww… Good for them. Zayn’s one of my favorites (…sad I know!)
