England’s all played out, says former soccer star Vinnie

Vinnie-JonesThe ex-soccer hardman Vinnie Jones has become such a part of Los Angeles, that back in the UK he is hardly recognised anymore.

Jones, 48, who has lived in Hollywood for eight years, said recently that there was nothing to go back home for…

His journey from tough-tackling footballer to movie hard man has taken him from Watford to Los Angeles.

Since 2000 Jones has lived with his wife Tanya and their daughter in a mansion on Mulholland Drive in Hollywood. And they even fly a large Union flag on the front lawn.

He told the Radio Times: “There’s nothing to come back to here. To me, England is past its sell-by date.

“It’s not the country I grew up in. It’s a European country now. If someone blindfolded you and put you on a plane in LA, and you landed at Heathrow and they took it off, you wouldn’t have a clue where you were.”

But, despite his views on the damage cultural diversity has done to the UK, he insisted he had no interest in becoming a “poster boy” for Ukip, claiming: “I’m not familiar with them. But I just think we should get our own house in order before we open our doors.”

Vinnie said the influx of foreigners was not the only reason he preferred LA, saying: “People say you can get bored of the sun. No you can’t. I play golf six days a week and I’ve still got my football team the Hollywood All-Stars.”

Well, I live up the street from Vinnie and I have to say, this is first time I have ever agreed with anything spouting from his mouth… Keep it up Jones, I am starting to like you!
