At last, American telly bosses make the right decision when it comes to casting a British remake… I hear Fox has given a familiar face the headline role in their version of Broadchurch.
The name in the frame is none other than David Tennant, who of course headlined the U.K. version of the hit ITV show, which drew more than 10 million viewers for its season finale.
According to my sources, Tennant will reprise his role as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy for American audiences.
Fox announced last summer that it will remake the eight-episode series for the 2014-15 season. (The drama also aired recently on BBC America). The U.S. version, which may go by a different title (typical), will feature Tennant as an American detective who is the lead male investigator on the case of a shocking murder that puts a small town under scrutiny.
Tennant is best known on these shores for his stint as the tenth incarnation of Dr Who from 2005-2010. Shine America is producing Broadchurch in association with Kudos and Imaginary Friends. Series should begin filming in January.
So, maybe David Tennant will finally become a star in America… Yay!
