Retired footie star David Beckham has reportedly been persuaded into doing a triathlon next year with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
The pair have been training so hard for the gruelling Ironman event that pals have nicknamed them ‘Rocky’ and ‘Apollo’ from the iconic 1976 boxing flick ‘Rocky,’ starring Sylvester Stallone.
The 38-year-old is said to have agreed to tackle the Ironman event with Kitchen Nightmares presenter Ramsay, who sought advice from Beckham while preparing for the Hawaii triathlon earlier this month.
A friend of Beckham’s told the Daily Star newspaper: “David became jealous of Gordon after giving him training advice.
“He misses competing since retiring from football so it didn’t take long for Gordon to convince him to do it.
“They’ve been getting up at 4am to train on the beach. Friends are joking they’re like the leads from Rocky with their dedication.”
According to the source, the pair have been meeting up at 4am most mornings to train on the beachahead of next year’s challenge.
Beckham called time on his playing career at the end of last season.
