tom-hardy_edited-1The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy is in talks to play the infamous Kray twins in a forthcoming film.

British actor says that he would ‘absolutely love’ to play both Reggie and Ronnie Kray, and looks set to star in the film version of their criminal lives.

Hardy says he has been approached to play BOTH brothers in the film, which will chart the tortured relationship between East End gangster twins. The Krays were feared yet iconic participants in the swinging Sixties as owners of a West End nightclub, Esmeralda’s Barn.

“All the plans are on the table,” Hardy told MailOnline.“there’s a lot of crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s, and there’s a lot of shift and geography to work out.”

The film offer comes weeks after Hardy confirmed he would be joining the cast of acclaimed BBC period crime drama Peaky Blinders.

The screenplay described as a thriller, is penned by LA Confidential writer, Brian Helgeland and follows the story of the identical twin brothers and their criminal exploits in London during the Fifties and Sixties, is currently in development with production due to start in the UK later this year.

“It would be difficult,’ Tom said about the mechanics of playing two characters sharing a lot of the same screen time.

“It’s quite technical and I’m a bit of an anorak.”

He added: “There’s a physical transfer; we’d have to shoot one bit, go away come back and shoot it all again with another part. I’ve never dreamt of playing two people on the screen!”
