Don’t we all love awards season?

Hi Breeps!

Are you a film buff or a fest head?

toscars-adEither way January is always exciting for both types as the biggest festival in Southern California, has just announced its line up.

The three-day, two-weekend annual Coachella Festival is coming in April and having been a few times it seriously one of the best I’ve ever attended. Some of the British acts playing this year are: Ride, Nero, Florence & the Machine, Marina & The Diamonds, FKA Twigs, Kasabian and many more. There’s also classic acts for the older generation including Steely Dan and AC/DC. Tickets sold out within minutes of going on sale on January 7th but there’s plenty of places to grab them online, including StubHub and eBay…just expect to pay a bit more than face value. Hey, Coachella is this generation’s Woodstock – but without the mud. Kicking back in the desert with good friends listening to great music – I mean, how Californian is that?

For film buffs who love all the glitz and the glamour we have the Golden Globes kicking off award season this Sunday, then the independent Spririt Awards, The Baftas, the Academy Awards and of course the most anticipated….THE TOSCARS.

Regular readers of this page will know by now that the Toscars is Brits in LA’s very own awards show, featuring short and ingenious parodies of the Academy’s Best Film nominees. This year’s ceremony will be held at the world-famous Avalon Theatre in Hollywood, with celebrity judges, a fantastic host (to be announced next week) red carpet, drinks, entertainment and many of our readers. So jot that date down in your diary, get our your posh frock or best bib and tucker and come support the community – tickets go on sale next week. At the Toscars.com website you can check out some of the previous years’ films, you may even see some people you know.

A New Year brings new rules in California, and one I was very happy to see allows your dog to accompany you to the restaurant… which makes my little pooch, Dusty Springfield, (left) a very happy pup. Take a look at the entire list and familiarize your self with the law of the land.

We are taking a break from pub quiz for a while as we will all be so busy with making The Toscars but we anticipate it being back in the Spring. Meanwhile there is always our great British Breakfast every Tuesday at Cecconis in West Hollywood. Hope to see many of you there.

Cheers!
