Beckham: none fitter?
Beckham: none fitter?

A footballer, an actor and a model – David Beckham has it all… But I’ve often wondered what the soccer hottie would have been had he not become world famous as we know and love him today…

But, the England legend has revealed what he could have been if it wasn’t for his madly-talented right foot.

A bricklayer, a truck driver? A reality star on Big Brother perhaps… Nope… A gas fitter… Oo-er!

Yup, that’s it. Not a pilot or a zoo ranger, doctor or even a lawyer.

The former Manchester United star revealed his thoughts as he picked up the Legend of Football Award at the HMV Football Extravaganza this week.

He explained that he would have probably followed in his dad Ted’s footsteps as a gas fitter if football did not work out.

The 40-year-old received the award for his outstanding contribution to the sport.

And thanked his parents for everything they have given him.

After receiving his gong, he said: “I’m incredibly honoured. When you look at the list of previous recipients, I feel very fortunate to be alongside them.

“I am proud of what I have achieved and my hard work is down to my parents, who are here tonight with my sister.”

Ted is credited for masterminding his son’s rise to fame.

On Father’s Day this year, the iconic midfielder shared a throwback snap of him and Ted posing next to two of his trophies.

David captioned it: “Happy Father’s Day dad.

“Thank you for all the support you have given me over the years. To all the dads around the world have an amazing day and enjoy being spoilt by your beautiful children”.

During his 21-year career, the former Manchester United player won 17 major trophies and made 115 England appearances.

He also played for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan before finishing his career in Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 and the England great also revealed his first day at Real Madrid was one of the most nerve-wracking moments of his life, following his switch from Old Trafford to the Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, Beckham admitted to paying £10,000 for an Arsenal shirt signed by himself for son Romeo’s birthday present, as his second-oldest son turned 13 this week.

A gas fitter, eh? How very unfitting… I wonder if his missus Victoria, AKA Posh Spice, would have wanted him still? I guess we’ll never know…
