I hate it when I get a song stuck in my head – the Hokey Cokey is the song du jour for me and unfortunately I think it might be an ongoing soundtrack through until June 23rd.
‘In, Out, Shake it All About’ is basically what I think of the upcoming UK/EU referendum – I don’t have a vote as I’ve been away from Britain for longer than 15 years; but if I was a member of the Commonwealth I would not necessarily feel any different; which brings me to ask the question isn’t Britain a member of the Commonwealth? In which case I should be eligible to vote shouldn’t I? But it seems that isn’t so, as I need to be a member of one of ‘those countries’ not a British Citizen.
It all seems a bit archaic and the Conservative Party is championing a ‘Votes for Life’ measure that will scrap Scrap the current 15 year time limit, but it won’t happen in time for the referendum. And to be honest if I did have a vote I am not sure I would know how to use it. On the one hand we have David Cameron making deals in Europe that he claims are legally binding, but then the European Parliament President Martin Schulz says there is no guarantee on anything, proving the old adage ‘Show me an honest politician..”
Someone once said “never trust a man with two first names’ which has often concerned me, being called Eileen Lee, but then I take comfort in the fact that I am not a man. However I think Mr Cameron could possibly (just about) fall under that description. In which case, should we trust him? I do often wish California were independent, but then I also agree there is sometimes safety in numbers. But not if you partner up with lunatics! Would love to hear what you are all thinking, as it is all a bit of a mystery to me (cue up next song on my mental soundtrack).

UK/EU Referendum – In? Out? Shake it All About?! June 23rd 2016
Apparently more people vote for American Idol than they do in the Presidential elections!. My only comment is please don’t waste your vote.

Thank you to all of you who wrote in and informed me that a ‘washing up bowl’ is called a dishpan in the USA – Apparently you can buy a lovely one at Bed Bath & Beyond for just $5.99, although I’ve been informed that the 99 Cents store carries them too – I know where my vote goes in the dishpan debate!
Cheers!
Eileen
