Brexit: a civilized British debate in Orange County

IF YOU ARE tired of the chimpanzee food-fight that so often passes for political dialog in this country and yearn for a civilized alternative, then head down to the Westin South Coast Plaza on May 26th for a British-style debate on what is, without doubt the biggest political decision facing the UK this year: The In/Out EU referendum set for June 23rd.

The British American Business Council in Orange County is hosting the debate, which posits the opinion:  “This House Holds That The UK Would Be Better Out Of The EU”. Or to put it bluntly: Brexit: what is it and what does it mean to us all?

brexitA ‘leave’ decision would have a massive impact on both the UK and the EU – but the implications for the rest of the world, including the USA, would also be great. In one scenario, this could be a first step in the complete unraveling of the EU, as others may decide to follow the UK lead. Global trade relations and security would be but two of the key issues at stake.

The May 26th debate features a distinguished panel debating the pros and cons of this momentous ballot. Each speaker will take a position for or against the motion, and vie, with no holds barred, to win the hearts and minds of the audience based on the strength and persuasiveness of their arguments.

The Westin South Coast Plaza is located at 686 Anton Blvd. Costa Mesa. Business attire preferred. 6:00 pm Registration & Reception. 7:00 pm Dinner. Followed by panel discussion and vote.

Reservations a must. Visit www.babcoc.org for details.
