Welcoming the new C-G….and how about them cocktails?!

We’d like to give a warm welcome to Michael Howells the new British consul-general, who arrived last week with his wife and two children. We were fortunate enough to be invited the Consul-General’s residence in Hancock Park to welcome Michael, where he gave a wonderful comedic speech about proudly being an Essex boy and how excited he is to embark on this new journey with his family and meeting us all. Michael replaces Chris O’Connor, who served with such distinction in the post since 2013.

Our new Consul General: Michael Howells

Also in attendance at the event were famed DJ Paul Oakenfold, and Charles Spencer, brother of the late Princess Diana. I also enjoyed chatting to Fiona Harden and Manny Patel as well as Vice President of HSBC, Matthew Douglas. Among the other boldface names in attendance I spotted Chesney Hawkes having a good chinwag with Peter Morris. The food as always was excellent and the drinks definitely help. A highlight for me was hobnobbing with the parents of the deputy CG Collette Weston, who were in in town from Leicestershire, and seemed a wee a little overwhelmed by such a beautiful affair.

Also this week I enjoyed a few nights out. Nick Hardcastle joined me for the Glass Animals concert at the Shrine Auditorium. If you haven’t checked them out yet on Spotify or iTunes ….do! They are awesome and becoming my favorite band. Then Eileen and myself enjoyed an evening downtown at the event Cocktails In The City, an evening of libations supplied by 30 of LA’s best bars with many members including Frank Sanford, Gary Reichman and Rob Lock. It was a really fun event and very well attended. If you missed this one stay tuned for another, coming soon.

This week I’m off to Blighty to work on the second season of Different For Girls a show that is getting quite a lot of buzz. Check out the first season on YouTube. It’s a funny, campy look at lesbian life in Chiswick, which, as some of you may know, is located in West London along the Great West road on the way in from Heathrow. I’ll send the motherland your regards and will be reporting from there in a fortnight.

So be good and we look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events.

Best of British to you all,

Craig
