As you may be aware, we over at Brits in LA, we love all things royal. We embrace the majestic family and celebrate many of their events. Since Brits in LA’s inception we have organized events to celebrate the royals including having a good ol’ knees up for Her Majesty’s jubilee. We slumber partied to Kate and Wills’ nuptials and wet the baby’s head when little George was born. We even got to watch Wills in a polo match up in Santa Barbara. And now of course ever since ‘When Harry met Meghan’, I started to drool a little at the possibilities of another event. Let’s face it, we’ve always liked Harry, ever since Baby Spice gave him a little peck on the cheek all those years ago. And through the ups and downs of his life life, and his fun nights out after polo matches. He’s always been the fun one. So the fact he chose an American actress to be his wife was not all that big of a surprise. The Press tend to have a field day with her though, trying to dig up the dirt. But she definitely seems like the kind who can handle it and will take everything in her stride. So until Eileen and I decide what to do (open to suggestions from members) I was thrilled to ask to co-host a new podcast with Sean Mandell (an American lover of all things Royal) for Spoke and TMZ. called “Spilling The Royal Tea” (geddit?) it will update weekly and be told through the eyes of a Brit (me) and an American in the lead up to the actual day. We will have exclusives, up-to-date news on the planning, special guests each week who are most definitely in the know and fun banter between the two of us.
To listen to our premiere episode go to iTunes now, search “Spilling The Royal Tea” and download it. Perfect for when you’re stuck in LA traffic (which is usually always) or planning a road trip to the desert.
As Eileen mentioned last week the 2018 Toscars were sensational. And all thanks to the community and the staff at the LGBT Center, who were simply incredible in their support at the Renbert Theatre venue. Remember if you want to make a further donation to the center (talking to you JC) please visit lalgbtcenter.org and see how you can help.
I still can’t believe the first day of spring is upon us and which means Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Make sure you send your cards and order those flowers. I tend to find calling a local florist is much cheaper than using the international flower companies. Or have a friend or a sibling hand deliver for you. As I’m sure they’d love the sentiment and a bit of company.
Just want to give a huge shout out to my mum, whom I love with all my heart. She is usually here for a visit this time of year, but instead will be celebrating my wonderful Aunt Sue’s birthday in New York City. Happy 70th to her…and I hope you both have a fabulous time.
Don’t forget our weekly breakfast and pub quiz events, every Tuesday at Cecconi’s and the Cat & Fiddle respectively. And make sure to keep an eye on our Facebook page for more upcoming events.
Best,
Craig
