Transformed from Potter: can Radcliffe cast a new spell in Escape From Pretoria?

Daniel Radcliffe has shocked his army of loyal fans after undergoing a major transformation for his new role… Oo-er!

The English actor found international superstardom playing Harry Potter in the hugely popular franchise but these days Radcliffe is well established as far more than a former child actor, with well-received roles in Equus on Broadway in movies including The Woman in Black and the Indie film What If.

And the 29-year-old is back (but barely recognizable) in the brand new flick Escape from Pretoria.

The film documents the life of anti-apartheid activist Tim Jenkin, who famously escaped from a notorious South African jail in 1979.

Daniel plays the lead role in the new biopic, and has undergone a major makeover.

He was recently pictured on-set in Adelaide, Australia sporting long hair and a full beard.

The film is based on Jenkins’ autobiography.

It’s not the first time Radcliffe has undergone a new look for a role.

Last month, he sported new facial hair for his role in the American sitcom Miracle Workers.

Daniel said Hogwarts fans were giving him odd looks because of his new dress.

He said: “Yes, they’re like, ‘What’s happened to him?’ Like they think I have fallen on hard times, or something.”
