Locals throng to King’s Head following sad news

YE OLDE Kings Head in Santa Monica has opened a book of condolences and an informal memorial to HM Queen Elizabeth II, following her passing on Thursday.

Never to be forgotten

     The popular British pub, restaurant and gift shoppe was thronged with local Brits following the news, eager to pay their respects and share memories of the much-loved monarch.

     Along with the book of condolences, the memorial table features candles, roses and photos of the queen. Longtime manager Dusty Kerr told a local newspaper they plan to send the book full of signatures and condolences to Buckingham Palace.

     At the popular Kings Head Shoppe, Union Jack flags and memorabilia of Her Majesty are on full display.

     Speaking to the Santa Monica Daily Press, manager Lisa Powers said: “When something like this happens everyone comes to the King’s Head. This is where all the expats come, everyone wants to be together – it instills a sense of community.”
