Locals join in the Coronation fun

Both local chapters of the British-American Business Council will be holding gala events to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, next Saturday, May 6th. In Los Angeles, the BABC LA will hosts a Royal Coronation Celebration from 4-6pm at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica. The event promises “Food, Drink and Musical Acts” and “The Best of Britain’s Brands”.

   As is so often the case with BABC LA events, there will also be some splendid travel prizes to be won, including TWO Virgin Atlantic Upper Class round trip tickes from LAX to London, plus TWO Delta Airlines round trip tickets between the US and a Delta destination in Europe. There will also be a special VIP Reception hosted by Britweek ($50/ticket or %150 for the VIP reception); with a portion of the proceeds going to BAFTA’s Vance Byrd Mentorship Program.

Down in Orange County they are also getting in on the act, with a post Coronation event set for Sunday, May 21st. The BABC OC’s “King’s Coronation Family Day In the Park” takes place at Halecrest Park, 3124 College Avenue, Costa Mesa, from Noon-3pm. The event features fun for all the family, children and grandchildren very welcome. Expect live music, a bbq lunch, kids games and craft table, face painting, horseshoes, beach volleyball, basketball and a beer and wine bar. There is also a special photo op with a traditional English red phone box, which can be bid on in the live auction – yes, you can actually take that classic British icon home with you…

   Tickets are priced at $45 each for adults with kids FREE. Attire: Casual but Hats and British Finery strongly Encouraged!

   A portion of tickets sales for this event will benefit the BABC OC Scholarship Fund which supports high school students in underserved communities of OC attend a British Summer Studies Program.
