Like it or not (and how could you not?) the BBC have confirmed actor Matt Smith will be back to star as the Time Lord next year in a new fourteen episode run of the popular science fiction television series Doctor Who.
Steven Moffat will continue as executive producer, but no other information about the future of the show has been revealed. Regarding the announcement, Moffat recently tweeted: “14 eps + Matt DEFINITELY. I’ve got a plan and I’m NOT TELLING YOU WHAT IT IS.”
Six more episodes of the current Doctor Who series will be broadcast in the fall of 2011, which will be followed by a new Christmas special. The episodes planned for 2012 will encompass the seventh series of Doctor Who since the show was resurrected in 2005.
Congratulations to Matt for successfully establishing himself as a formidable Time Lord! Hopefully, he will be back for many more seasons.
