Section Quartet take on Radiohead at Broad Stage

The Section Quartet

Fans of Radiohead who are interested in a new take on the British band’s work may interested to visit the Broad Stage in Santa Monica on September 23rd when the acclaimed group The Section Quartet give a concert entitled: The Music of Radiohead.

The Section Quartet is an LA-based string quartet, founded in 1998, featuring Eric Gorfain and Daphne Chen on violin, Lauren Chipman on viola, and Richard Dodd on cello. The quartet specializes in turning popular rock songs into classical pieces, and are known for

creating all-string version albums of music  by IncubusNine Inch NailsMuse, and Tool. Other rock covers include pieces by The Strokes, ColdplayQueens of the Stone AgeThe Clash, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They have also performed on many popular music albums, ranging from Christina Aguilera‘s album Stripped, to Finch’s album What It Is to Burn. The Section Quartet performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2004 and 2006.

In this exploration of Radiohead’s seminal album The Bends, The Section Quartet team up with Grammy Award-winning Sara Watkins (The Decemberists and Nickel Creek) and singer songwriter Grant-Lee Phillips (Grant-Lee Buffalo) in  the intimacy of The Edye Auditorium.
